CONGRATULATIONS: __________________________!
You have been selected by the __________________ Company to develop a Magazine Ad for their latest product:______________. 

Your copy is due at the printer's in 5 days!

You  will have 1 day to create a slogan or a catch phrase that will appeal to a particular emotion. 
You will have 3 days to complete your design elements: font, color, and visual images.
Your final day can be used to critique your layout and then glue the elements into place.

Follow these steps to complete your project.  Steps 1 & 2 will be most easily done with small group brainstorming.

1. Decide what kind of emotional appeal would best fit this product.
2. Create a catchy slogan or catch-phrase.  This will become the identity of the product.
3. Decide what visual images you will use in your ad.  These can be drawn, computer generated or cut out from a magazine and altered.
4. Select a lettering font that "fits" the image of you product.  Important information like the product name and the slogan should be sized in a 30-40 font.  Other information can be sized at a 16-20 font.
5. Select colors and patterns for the background that related to the emtional content or information in your ad.  The background should be a contrasting or complementary color to the product or images.
6.  Layout all of your design components.  Ask the design editor (your teacher) to check it over before you glue everything into place.
